Lots of Yummies in Ocean City, MD

Last week my husband and I traveled to Ocean City, Maryland for their annual Spring car show.  We always go for our restaurant favorites when we’re there, but also like to try new places.  So I’m going to share with you a tiny spot in the older part of Ocean City that one might just pass on by.  We are huge sushi fans – so if you are too, you won’t be disappointed.  Tai Ji Sushi located at 106A South Baltimore Avenue was at the very top of our list (except for our fav close to home – Yamato Sushi in Timonium, MD).  Their selection of special rolls, especially seafood ones, and the freshness of our food, definitely was a home run pick!  Between us, we ordered the “Ocean Pines Roll”, the “Queen Roll”, the “Godzilla Roll” and the “Yummy Yummy Roll.”  Very appropriate, don’t you think!  Well, it was all YUMMY.  And the rolls were packed full of delicious crab meat, shrimp, tuna and all of our favorites.  Plus Lily took care of us and they were so appreciative of our business.  Also, I have to add, that the Sushi Chef was so creative – a real artist – when it came to plate presentation.   Next time we are in Ocean City, Tai Ji Sushi will be first on our list for dinner (or lunch).  I hope you’ll try them too – Tell Lily we said hi!

Some other favorites that we visited again this year are: Fish Tails at 21st Street.  The view of the bay is fabulous and great food with your toes in the sand;  Higgins Crab House at 31st Street.  We sat on their top deck and watched all the cars cruising up Ocean Highway and enjoyed some steamed crabs; Ropewalk Ocean City Maryland.  A great location to experience great seafood, good service and the sunset! Our favorite tradition is visiting Harborside Restaurant, down Golf Course Road.  They are known for their Grapefruit Crushes – YUM!  and have a great view of the harbor.  Crab Alley, in the same area, is also a favorite to watch the car burn outs (if you’re not a car person, you wouldn’t understand) and enjoy steamed shrimp and meet some new friends.  I would be remiss if I didn’t mention our favorite 2 breakfast places – Layton’s at 16th Street.  Their donuts and breakfast items are to die for and you may even get a free sample, hot out of the oven, from the owner when you’re there.  My favorite is their vanilla coconut donut.  Ask him to tell you why he calls it the Wedding Donut!  We also tried Brass Balls, located right on the boardwalk and a view of the ocean.  Reasonable prices, perfect setting and also a great selection for breakfast (also services lunch & dinner).  Hope you try out some of my Yummy suggestions.  I would love to get your feedback!

  1. Thank you so much for the Tai Ji Sushi recommendation! I never visit that part of OC, but my son and I decided to try it when we were there. He is pretty particular about his sushi, and the eating establishments he visits. Needless to say, the food was excellent, the place was fresh and clean, and the owners were super friendly and appreciative of our visit 🙂
